Black History Month – October 2022

Celebrating Black History Month – October 2022

Black History Month is a time to celebrate role models who have made a positive impact in history as well as in modern society. It first originated in the United States where it is known as African-American History Month. This is also a time which is used to educate people about the history of Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) communities.

Below is a short video which very quickly summarises some of the reasons why we have a Black History Month. This month is a celebration of positive influences people have had but also a time to reflect on the past and not forget the important history.

There are not just events going on around the UK, you may have seen that there have been radio shows dedicated to talking about topics that surround Black History Month as well as television shows and films. You can visit the Black History Month website to read interviews and watch talks all about this month.
